A rare case report of panuveitis with retinochoroidal involvement, retinitis, and retinal vasculitis due to extensive tinea corporis

A 40-year-old Asian Indian woman, diagnosed as having idiopathic panuveitis (elsewhere) 3 years earlier and being treated with oral steroids (20 mg/day) methotrexate (25 mg/week), presented to us worsening vision in both eyes. Her best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was perception of light her right eye counting fingers close face left eye. slit lamp examination showed an anterior chamber (AC) reaction (1+) eyes posterior synechia, a total cataract eye, pseudophakia The fundus vitritis, vitreous membranes, chorioretinitis, multifocal areas retinitis, retinal vascular sheathing. systemic extensive tinea corporis on the hands torso. Owing leukocytosis (22,000 cells/mm ), diagnostic vitrectomy initially deferred 100 mg itraconazole given twice day for months. vitritis improved little white blood cell (WBC) count treatment skin infection. Following later resolving retinitis were seen. Complete resolution inflammation seen at end 6 weeks. At 6-month follow-up, BCVA 6/18 she off methotrexate, no recurrence inflammation. We speculate probable association between ocular based therapeutic response itraconazole.
